At a time when every part of the country is already disaster prone, it is but right for members of communities to organize and empower themselves and be united in facing future calamities. Especially so, for places which have been damaged by previous disasters.

Among these places that have been affected by previous calamities are the partner-beneficiaries of CPDG's project "Developing people's health and disaster readiness capacities,"  a post-typhoon disaster preparedness and rehabilitation program in Quezon city.

Now on its 11th month of implementation, the project has already installed seven artesian wells and facilitated 23 health skills and disaster preparedness trainings in the different communities in Barangays Greater Fairview, North Fairview and Payatas, Quezon city.

Among the topics in the trainings are: Basic Health Orientation, Common Signs and Symptoms, Herbal Medicine  Orientation and Preparation, Rational Drug Use, Pharmacy Management and Community Based Disaster Management.

With these newly acquired capacities, the people from the said communities feel more empowered to tend to their health conditions and be prepared for disasters.
